APRIL SHOWERS BRING RAIN BARRELS!
In the fall of 2013, 15 students and parents from Bollman Bridge Elementary School visited Alpha Ridge Landfill. The group from BBES was delighted to be aware of this breathtaking experience, learning how to install rain barrels. The parents were encouraged and glad their kids are in an earth-friendly school environment! The rain barrels will be installed in the spring of 2014. -Mitchell, 5th grade |
I'VE GOT TRASH TO PICK UP!
During lunch and recess from 2011 to this present day, Green Team, in grades 2 through 5, has been doing the earth a boon. They pick up debris from around the school grounds at Bollman Bridge, preventing the garbage from entering the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Students endured this service during their lunch and recess each week. Why would they do this? For fame? For fun? Or simply to help our earth and make it a better place for our future? How proficient are these students, really?! -Iman, 5th grade There are 50 students who are actively involved in Green Team, grades 2 through 5. |

VERY SLICK!
One of our 4th graders was investigating after hearing a news story about an oil spill. She was appalled at the impact of oil on the deep sea environment. She created a visual representation of the life on water before (BOTTOM) and after (TOP) the oil spill. She shared her visual and her newfound knowledge with other curious 4th graders. April 2013. |
